소개
FreeCAD의 견고한 모델링 기능은 고급 3D 형상 생성 및 조작 기능을 갖춘 전문가급 CAD 시스템인 OpenCASCADE 기술(OCCT) 커널을 기반으로 합니다. 부품 작업대는 OCCT 라이브러리 상단에 있는 레이어로, 사용자가 OCCT 기하학적 기본 요소 및 기능에 접근할 수 있습니다. 기본적으로

부품 작업대 등의 작업대의 모든 2D 및 3D 도면 기능은 부품 작업대에서 노출되는 이러한 기능을 기반으로 합니다.
부품 작업대와 부품설계 작업대에 대한 자세한 설명은 부품 그리고 부품설계에서 확인할 수 있습니다.
부품 작업대에서 만들어지는 모형들은 비교적 단순합니다; 이 작업대에서는 더 복잡한 형상을 만들기 위해 부울 연산(결합 및 잘라내기)을 사용하도록 고안되었습니다. 이러한 모델링 기법은 구성적 고체 기하학(Constructive Solid Geometry)(CSG) 작업 흐름으로 알려져 있으며 초기 CAD 시스템에서 사용되는 전통적인 방법론이었습니다. 반면, 부품설계 작업대에서는 형상을 만들어 나갈 때 보다 현대적인 방법으로 작업합니다: 이는 파라메트릭하게 정의된 스케치를 사용하여 돌출되어 기본 고체 몸통을 형성한 다음 최종 객체를 얻을 때까지 파라메트릭 변환(특징 편집)을 통해 수정됩니다.
부품 개체는 일관된 부울 연산, 수정 내역 및 파라메트릭 동작과 같은 고급 작업을 허용하므로 메쉬 작업대에서 생성된 메쉬 개체보다 더 복잡합니다.

Sphere: Creates a sphere. This object can also be created with the

Torus tool.
Prism: Creates a prism.
Wedge: Creates a wedge.
Helix: Creates a helix.
Spiral: Creates a spiral.
Circle: Creates a circular arc.
Ellipse: Creates an elliptical arc.
Point: Creates a point.
Line: Creates a line.
Regular polygon: Creates a regular polygon.
Shape builder...: Creates shapes from various primitives.
Creation and modification
These are tools for creating new and modifying existing objects.
Extrude: Extrudes planar faces.
Revolve: Creates a solid by revolving an object (not a solid) around an axis.
Mirror: Mirrors the selected object across a mirror plane.
Scale: Scales one or more shapes. introduced in version 1.0
Fillet: Fillets (rounds) edges of an object.
Chamfer: Chamfers edges of an object.
Make face from wires: Makes a face from a set of wires (contours).
Ruled Surface: Creates a ruled surface.
Loft: Lofts from one profile to another.
Sweep: Sweeps one or more profiles along a path.
Section: Creates a section by intersecting an object with a section plane.
Cross sections...: Creates one or more cross-sections through an object.
Thickness: Hollows out a solid.
Projection on surface: Projects a logo, text or any face, wire or edge onto a surface.
Attachment: Attaches an object to another object.
Boolean
These tools perform boolean operations.
Compound Tools:
Make compound: Creates a compound from the selected objects.
Explode Compound: Splits up compounds.
Compound Filter: Extracts the individual pieces from compounds.
Boolean: Performs boolean operations on objects.
Cut: Cuts (subtracts) one object from another.
Fuse: Fuses (unions) two or more objects.
Common: Extracts the common (intersection) part of two objects.
Splitting tools:
Boolean fragments: Creates all pieces obtained from Boolean operations.
Slice apart: Slices and splits an object by intersecting it with other objects.

XOR: Removes space shared by an even number of objects.
Other tools
Import: Imports from *.IGES, *.STEP, or *.BREP files.
Export: Exports to *.IGES, *.STEP, or *.BREP files.
Box selection: Selects faces from a rectangular area.
Create shape from mesh: Creates a shape object from a mesh object.
Create points object from geometry: Creates a points object from a geometric object.
Convert to solid: Converts a shape object to a solid object.
Reverse shapes: Flips the normals of all faces of selected objects.

Create simple copy: Creates a simple copy of a selected object.
Create transformed copy: Creates a transformed copy of a selected object.
Create shape element copy: Creates a copy from an element (vertex, edge, face) of a selected object.
Refine shape: Cleans faces by removing unnecessary lines.
Check geometry: Checks the geometry of selected objects for errors.
Defeaturing: Removes features from an object.
Appearance: Determines the appearance of a whole object (color, transparency etc.).
Color per face: Assigns colors to individual faces of objects.

Measure
The Std Measure tool replaces the tools listed below. introduced in version 1.0
Measure Linear: Creates a linear measurement. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Measure Angular: Creates an angular measurement. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Measure Refresh: Updates all measurements. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Clear All and View Measure Clear All: Clears all measurements. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Toggle All and View Measure Toggle All: Shows or hides all measurements. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Toggle 3D: Shows or hides 3D measurements. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Toggle Delta: Shows or hides delta measurements. Not available in version 1.0 and above.
Preferences
Preferences: Preferences available for Part Tools (the Part workbench also uses the PartDesign Preferences).
Import Export Preferences: Preferences available for importing from and exporting to different file formats.
