Description

The Sketcher CreateSlot tool draws a slot, a closed polyline consisting of two semicircles connected with two parallel straight lines, by picking its semicircle centers and a rim point. introduced in version 0.22: Or optionally by entering the coordinates of one semicircle, distance and angle of the second semicircle, and thier radius.
(In older FreeCAD versions by picking one semicircle center and an endpoint of the other semicircle.)

Usage

See also: Drawing aids.

Pos-OVP = Positional On-View-Parameters. introduced in version 0.22
Dim-OVP = Dimensional On-View-Parameters. introduced in version 0.22

  1. There are several ways to invoke the command:
    • Press the Create slot button.
    • Select the Sketcher → Sketcher geometries → Create Slot option from the menu.
    • The keyboard shortcut: G then S.
  2. Pick the center of the first semicircle. Or with Pos-OVP: enter its X and/or Y coordinate.
  3. Pick the center of the second semicircle. Or with Dim-OVP: enter the length and/or angle of its (virtual) centerline. The angle is relative to the X axis of the sketch.
  4. Pick a point of the outline. Or with Dim-OVP: enter the radius of the semicircles.
  5. The slot is created and applicable Pos-OVP and Dim-OVP based constraints are added.

Notes

  • version 0.21 and below (introduced in version 0.20): Holding Ctrl when creating the second center will constrain the slot to be drawn horizontally or vertically.
  • A slot can also be constrained horizontally or vertically if the Auto constraints option is enabled. introduced in version 0.20
