Description
The Make Relief command starts the first of three steps to convert a shell object made with tools of the Part or PartDesign workbench into an unfoldable SheetMetal object.
All edges where faces meet need to be separate; that's why the corners have to be cut off.
These cut-offs resemble corner reliefs, thus the naming Make Relief.
Create relief for sheet metal bend
Usage
To add relief to corner of bend:
- Start with a base plate or sheet, select a corner vertex to apply relief
- Click on the
Relief tool to add relief cut to corner.
Note: The workbench does not have a tool to create a base plate, so you need to start your model with one of the following methods:
- Method 1:

- Method 2: An extruded solid made with
Part Extrude from either a:
Draft Rectangle or a
Draft Wire or a
Sketch
- Use
Part Thickness to create shell (Typically with the thickness value of the sheet metal.)
- Method 3:

additive box or a
PartDesign Pad made from a
Sketch.
