Description

The   CAM Engrave command is primarily for engraving a   Draft ShapeString onto a part. It can also be used with other flat 2D geometry, for example imported SVG-based shapes.

Usage

  1. There are several ways to invoke the command:
    • Press the   Engrave button.
    • Select the CAM →   Engrave option from the menu.
  2. In the Base Geometry section, select the geometry to engrave.
    • A   Draft ShapeString can be used.
    • Other flat 2D geometry, such as imported SVG-based shapes, can also be used.
    • When possible, select the whole flat shape instead of selecting many individual edges in the 3D View.
  3. In the Depths section, check and adjust the depth settings as required.
  4. Confirm the operation.

  • Base: The geometry to engrave.
  • Clear: Clears the current geometry selection.

  • DataClearance Height: The height needed to clear clamps and obstructions
  • DataFinal Depth: Final Depth of Tool- lowest value in Z
  • DataSafe Height: The above which Rapid motions are allowed.
  • DataStart Depth: Starting Depth of Tool- first cut depth in Z
  • DataStep Down: Incremental Step Down of Tool

  • DataActive: Make False, to prevent operation from generating code
  • DataBase: The base geometry for this operation
  • DataComment: An optional comment for this operation
  • DataCoolant Mode: Coolant mode for this operation
  • DataCycle Time: Estimated cycle time for this operation
  • DataStart Vertex: The vertex index to start the path from
  • DataTool Controller: The tool controller that will be used to calculate the path
  • DataUser Label: User assigned label
