Description
The Part Builder command creates more complex shapes from various geometric primitives.
Usage
- There are several ways to invoke the command:
- Press the
Shape Builder button.
- Select the Part →
Shape Builder option from the menu.
- Press the
- The Create Shape task panel opens.
- Select the shape creation mode and optionally press the Box Selection button to use box selection instead of picking geometrical entities one by one:
- Edge from vertices
- Select two vertices in the 3D View.
- Wire from edges
- Select connected edges in the 3D View.
- Optionally check Planar for a planar wire.
- Face from vertices
- Select vertices bounding the face in the 3D View.
- Optionally check Planar for a planar face.
- Face from edges
- Select edges enclosing the face in the 3D View.
- Optionally check Planar for a planar face.
- Shell from faces
- Select faces in the 3D View.
- Optionally check Refine shape to refine the shape.
- Optionally check All faces to include all faces in shell.
- Solid from shell
- Select a shell in the 3D View.
- Optionally check Refine shape to refine the shape.
- Edge from vertices
- Press the Create button.
- The object is created.
- Optionally create additional objects.
- Press the Close button to close the task panel and finish the command.

Notes
A possible workflow to create a solid from a wireframe could be:
- Draw a wireframe-model of your shape using the tools in the
Draft Workbench (for example line and wire).
- Create all faces with "face from edges".
- Create a "shell from faces".
- Create a "solid from shell".
- Creation and modification: New Sketch, Extrude, Revolve, Mirror, Scale, Fillet, Chamfer, Face From Wires, Ruled Surface, Loft, Sweep, Section, Cross-Sections, 3D Offset, 2D Offset, Thickness, Project on Surface, Appearance per Face
- Boolean: Compound, Explode Compound, Compound Filter, Boolean Operation, Cut, Union, Intersection, Connect Shapes, Embed Shapes, Cutout Shape, Boolean Fragments, Slice Apart, Slice to Compound, Boolean XOR, Check Geometry, Defeaturing
- Other tools: Box Selection, Shape From Mesh, Points From Shape, Convert to Solid, Reverse Shapes, Simple Copy, Transformed Copy, Shape Element Copy, Refine Shape, Set Tolerance, Persistent Section Cut, Attachment
